Badminton
History of Badminton
Badminton is a sport much like tennis, but instead of a ball is used a sort of shuttlecock. In practice this sport are required various skills such as agility, physical strength, speed, reflex, flexibility and endurance.
This sport was brought to England by British soldiers, who knew him in India during the British colonization of the (nineteenth century). In India, the game possessed the name of Poona. In 1873 came the official version of the game, through the English Duke of Beaufort.
Purpose and Rules
The game is accompanied by a referee that mark the points and apply the necessary rules. Each player uses a racket to hit the shuttlecock. The objective of the game is to get the ball touches the opponent's court, passing over the net. When this happens is accounted a point. When a player plays the ball out of the court, the point is counted for the opponent. The game is divided into three 15-point games. The game is won by the player or pair to win two or three games (sets). The female individual games are conducted in three games of 11 points.
